higher professional status than the Land Surveyor and has been

so acknowledged in Hong Kong hitherto. Some confusion may

exist outside the professions by the terms "County Surveyor"

and "Borough Surveyor" used in England and it should be noted

that the occupants of these posts are generally fully qualified

Civil Engineers.

21. Assessing is only a branch of Surveying yet the

Assistant Assessors are given a higher status than the Land

Surveyor and one equal to that of the Engineer, and the

Assessor is rated higher than the Executive Engineer.

Whereas the maximum of the Engineer's scale has been

reduced from £1,150 to 2950 the following other changes in

the maxima of scales of salaries and P. E. of officers

of similar status are nuted:-
